NBU purchased SAS 9.4 with Data Management Advanced.  It was installed 2 weeks ago.  We are still installing SAS Viya and working through security, so we haven’t used any of it yet, but I can tell you SAS has truly partnered with NBU throughout this process.

Does any one in the discussion group have experience with analytics surrounding analytics and transmission project estimation? We are interested the following capabilities;

• Creation of Estimates: The software must be able to facilitate the creation of project estimates for all project stages, save estimates for future use, maintain searchable information for assemblies, components, crews and material.     
• Workflow: Estimates shall have the ability to be assigned, reviewed, approved, tracked and routed to various estimators.
• Collaboration: The software shall have the ability to allow estimators to collaborate on estimates requiring multidiscipline support. The estimators should have the ability to work concurrently on various parts of the same estimate.
• Integration to Key Platforms/Systems: The software should have the ability to import / export data from multiple databases / platforms, including but not limited to, MS Excel, MS Project, Primavera P6, RS Means, Richardson, SAP, Maximo.
• Standard Classification system: The software should allow for a standard classification system that ties into other coding schemes such as CSI MasterSpec or ERP systems.
• Information / Databases: In addition to integration with other platforms, the software provider should provide access to its own or other third party datasets specific to the utility industry (Hydro, Fossil Fuel, Solar, Wind) that houses information on material, crew and equipment costs that are regularly updated. The dataset items must be importable to the estimates with the ability to change parameters and store items / assemblies for future use.
• Customization: The software should allow for user defined views created by the estimators and role based views.
• Reporting: Standard reports and user configurable reports must be available that include dashboards, comparison of estimates, detail estimates as well as all estimate portfolio views that can be grouped by various parameters, such as location, estimator, project owner, etc.
• Benchmarking: The software should allow for the comparison of current estimates to historical estimates and actual costs for the purposes of benchmarking.

At TVA we use C55 from Copperleaf, and I think it will provide most of the items you listed: (i) creation of estimates for all stages; (ii) workflow to allow for the estimates to be reviewed, approved, and tracked; (iii) customization & reporting; etc.  The one item you listed that I don’t believe Copperleaf provides are the third party databases with cost estimate information for similar projects.
