UAI’s Natural Gas Analytics Community’s next meeting is on Tuesday, July 23rd at 1pm CT. Laurel Winkenwerder, Manager of Quantitative Analytics at Black Hills Corp, will be sharing a presentation on “Computing Optimal Climatological Normals”.

This presentation will examine alternative approaches (e.g. Hinge Fit) to define, analyze, and compute “normal” climate beyond the n-year moving averages (e.g., 10, 20, 30-year). A more representative “normal” climate is critical because it is woven into utility financial and strategic plans and is used to forecast future gas supply, design integrated resource plans, normalize test-year sales, and set budgets. There are also impacts on rates, revenues, and capital asset decisions.

If you are not yet a member of UAI’s Natural Gas Analytics Community and are interested in joining, please register using our community registration form here (note that spots may be limited depending on your membership).

We hope to see you there!
