    Cameron,

This is one of those interesting items where the question is rather quite large.  There are multiple facets of requirements just on the business level not to mention requirements around records retention, technologies, etc.

One way is to come at it from a Use Case perspective (or an Epic if you are using Agile).  What do you hope to accomplish?  Another way I have seen individuals go at it is from IEC CIM topic area (Part 9, Part 4, etc.).

The other major question I would ask is what does it mean for the data analytics system to be “enterprise”?  Does it mean energy markets, transmission, distribution, and generation?  Operations vs. planning vs. financial reporting?  These types of visions and goals will need to be clarified as well.

At the end of the what I have found in my work with our clients is that an “enterprise data analytics system” is an information organization challenge which allows the platform to extend to support multiple technologies, multiple business units, and multiple processes through the presentation in a common governed and reconciled data structure.

Subject: Business requirements for an enterprise data analytics system

I posted this a few days ago in the Enterprise Analytics group, but I’m hoping to hit a wider audience here. Apologies for cross posting.

I am looking for example business requirements for an enterprise data analytics system. Would anyone be willing to share a requirements document for a completed or work-in-progress system? We are evaluating several solutions, so any and all requirements are welcome.

    Thanks,
