  Upcoming April (2022) Community Conversation

  Hello Asset Health Analytics Community Members,

  I hope all is well! We are one week away from our April (2022) Asset Health Analytics Community Conversation and want to get you excited about the session taking place. On Wednesday, April 27 at 2:00 PM CT, we’ll be joined by Sam Ortega, Senior Engineer, T&D Asset Optimization and Dag Reppen, Senior PI Systems Analyst, Enterprise PI Services at Salt River Project who will be leading a discussion around, “Using Synchrophasor Data to Capture Transformer through Fault Current to Improve SRP Transformer Asset Health Algorithm.” As this discussion will be interactive we encourage you to come prepared with questions and your insight.

  Session Description:

  During this session, Sam and Dag will share the progress of SRP’s use case using synchronized phasor measurement units (PMU) data analytics to improve their power transformer asset health algorithm. Sam will speak to the PMU data scources and provide an overview of SRP’s Synchrophasor roadmap. This use case is an ongoing collaboration between many departments within SRP such as T&D Asset Optimization, Grid Operation, Protection Automation and Control, PI Enterprise Support, and Analytic Center for Excellence (ACE).

  Sam Ortega is a senior engineer at Salt River Projectwith more than 12 years of experience.In his current role at T&D Asset Optimization for about seven years, he is responsible for Performance Monitoring, Maintenance, Testing, and Inspection asset life cycle management. He uses the following software and analytical tools to perform his duties namely Cascade, Doble DTA web, Online TOA4 monitor watch, PI SDK, PI Vision, PI AF, PI Processbook, J5 Operation Logbook, Event Log Viewer, Disturbance Analysis Report (DAR), SEL SynchroWave Event Viewer, EPRI Power Quality Data Analyzer, MATLAB, SAS Enterprise, Cloudera Hadoop, Power BI, Tableau, SAP, IBM WAM, and their in-house Risk Optimization Center dashboard (ROC) created by their Analytical Center of Excellence (ACE), PI Energy Management System (EMS) and PI Event Notification created by their PI Enterprise Support.

  Dag Reppen is a Senior PI Systems Analyston theEnterprise PI Services team at Salt River Project (SRP) in Phoenix, Arizona. He has worked at SRP for 16 years in various capacities, including and engineer in EMS and AGC support, as well as an engineer in SRP’s Generation Monitoring and Diagnostics Center (PMC).  Dag has been deeply involved with SRP’s many Generation and T&D PI systems, and has 27+ years of PI experience.  Dag is currently serving as the Chair of the OSIsoft (now part of AVEVA) PI Generation User Group, and previously served as the Chair of the PI T&D User group for 3 years.
