Upcoming December (2023) Community Conversation
Hello Customer Analytics Community Members,
I hope all is well! We are one week away from our December (2023) Customer Analytics Community Conversation and want to get you excited about the session taking place. On Tuesday, December 12 at 11:00 AM CT, we’ll be joined by Walter Schaefer, Transportation Electrification Lead at DNV who will be leading a discussion on, “Forecasting the Future: Locational Insights for Accelerating EV Adoption.”
Learn more about this session and our speaker below!
Session Description:
As electric vehicle (EV) adoption continues to accelerate – the US achieved a 7.2% all-electric sales share in Q2 2023 – utilities and planners are shifting their focus from understanding simply when and how many EVs will be adopted to also forecasting where they will be adopted. To successfully forecast future EV adoption through a locational lens, it’s critical to develop a deep understanding of customer behavior, preferences, and responsiveness to peer influences. Furthermore, the resulting forecast insights can inform utility charger siting strategy and support targeted customer education and marketing, thus initiating a virtuous cycle of strategically supporting customers’ electrification journeys based on where customers are today and what they want to see in future EV programs. This community discussion will highlight the presenter’s approach to EV adoption forecasting, showcase key use cases for the resulting insights, and discuss how customer perspectives contribute to the process. Attendees will participate in a lively conversation to discuss the topic and examine how locational EV adoption forecasting can be used to solve their needs.Speaker: Walter Schaefer, Transportation Electrification Lead (DNV)Walter Schaefer is a Transportation Electrification Lead at DNV, where he provides subject matter expertise across the transportation electrification space, including a focus on EV adoption and load forecasting as well as managed charging. He has led a number of EV-focused efforts, including EV adoption forecasting for personal and fleet vehicles; the design, implementation, and evaluation of several managed charging pilots across the country; data-driven impact evaluations of EV charging infrastructure and utilization; and a fleet electrification advisory pilot. He combines strong and customer-centric project leadership with deep knowledge of the EV market and significant analytical experience. Walter earned his M.E. and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University.______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________A calendar placeholder for this community conversation was sent out via my alternate email address (kpraet@sg.utilityanalytics.com).
