    Hello Data Science Community Members,

Thank you to everyone who attended our Data Science meeting earlier in the month, it was great to reconnect! For those unable to attend, we had an exciting “Burning Questions” exercise where members of the community discussed/dissected 5 data science challenges (listed below) and possible solutions for each. Special thanks to Leslie Cook of UAI and our Data Science leadership team for helping facilitate.

    • Do you conduct code review? If so, how?
    • Did you make adjustments to your load forecasting regarding COVID-19? And if yes, what data did you use and how did you use it?
    • How do you streamline “pre-processing data” (aka 80% of data science is getting data set up before the actual analytics) and how do you deploy data science?
    • What’s the division of responsibility for data ‘pre-processing’ or engineering? Is this handled by your data scientists or an IT team?
    • What’s your biggest ‘data science win’ to date? (i.e. project that had the most impact to your organization)

For anyone that was unable to attend, you can catch up with a full recording and slide deck HERE.

Next month we’ll be meeting Tuesday, February 16th at 1:00 PM CST for a discussion around, Modeling Interpretation, with Eina Ooka of The Energy Authority. We’ll have more information on this session soon. For the most up to date info on our communities, visit our “Events Page” HERE.

FINALLY, Have you made plans to attend UA Summit in the Spring? As of this week, UA Summit 2021 has been moved to a 100% virtual event. The safety of our attendees are the most important thing to our team and we look forward to creating an event that is accessible to everyone. Please note, as a member, you receive complimentary access to UA Summit using code MEMBER21 (all caps). If anyone needs help registering please reach out to me and I’ll be happy to help.

Please let me know if you have any questions otherwise we look forward to connecting in February.

    Thanks!
