Upcoming January (2023) Community Conversation
Hello Data Science Community Members,
I hope all is well! We are just under one week away from our January (2023) Data Science Community Conversation and want to get you excited about the session taking place. On Tuesday, January 17th at 1:00 PM CT, we’ll be joined by Dexter Lewis, Pr. Technical Leader at EPRI who will be leading a discussion around, “An EPRI Image Labeling Case Study.” As this discussion will be interactive, we encourage you to come prepared with questions and your insight.
Learn more about this session and our speaker below!
Session Description:
The presentation is a case study on labeling imagery to support computer vision R&D. During the session, Dexter will communicate the workflows and work required to move an image dataset through the maching learning pipeline. The intent is to share metrics (time, cost, quality) on labeling, and communicate that these data are freely available to the public and UAI members. EPRI’s motivation is to identify utilities that want to collaborate on data labeling activities. Labeling is an ugly (time consuming and costly) process that each utility experiences (or will experience).Dexter will expose EPRI’s work in this domain, share the data, and identify future utility collaborators. This presentation will focus on the engineering that goes into creating ‘analysis ready data’.Dexter will also discuss model creation and tuning.
Speaker: Dexter Lewis, Pr. Technical Leader (EPRI)
Dexter Lewis is currently a Pr. Technical Leader for the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). Dexter is a part of EPRI’s Transmission and Distribution Program in the Power Delivery and Utilization sector. Before joining EPRI, Dexter worked for 10 years for Southern Company Services in their Research and Development department.
