  Upcoming January (2024) Community Conversation

  Hello Data Science Community Members,

  I hope all is well! We are just under one week away from our January (2024) Data Science Community Conversation and want to get you excited about the session taking place. On Tuesday, January 16 at 1:00 PM CT, we’ll be joined by Peter Kalaitzidis, Robotics Program Manager at New York Power Authority (NYPA) who will be leading a discussion on, “Establishing an Unmanned Aerial Systems Program & the Data Collected.”

  Session Description:

  The goal of image capturing should not be reliant on just Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). They are drones, but in fact anything can do it. From a cell phone to a robotic dog, a boat, a plane, or a helicopter, the data must be ingested, processed, and catalogued for NYPA’s Asset Management to meet the goals of digitization.

  Peter is a U.S. Air Force veteran who has served for many years and is currently retired from the U.S. Air Force. He has been flying remote-controlled airplanes since he was 8 years old and he has worked in the private sector as a Drone engineer, T&E engineer as well as R&D. He has provided drone-based monitoring solutions for commercial, government and military applications around the world. He currently is a New York Power Authority Robotics Program Manager.
