  Upcoming December (2022) Community Conversation

  Hello Enterprise Analytics Community Members,

  I hope all is well! We are one week away from our December (2022) Enterprise Analytics Community Conversation and want to get you excited about the session taking place. On Thursday, December 8th at 1:00 PM CT, we’ll be joined by Shawn Lee, Sr. Mgr Applications Systems and Ann Toy, Lead Business Translator, Enterprise Analytics at Evergy who will be leading a discussion around, “Data Science Practice at Evergy.” As this discussion will be interactive, we encourage you to come prepared with questions and your insight.

  Session Description:
  
  Evergy has utilized past experience and learnings from 3rd party engagements to build a Data Science Practice to enable more predictive and prescriptive analytics. In this presentation Evergy will discuss where they started and how they have evolved to tackle more advanced analytics. This will include the operating model they have adopted, use case development and evaluation and technology enablement.

  Shawn is a technologist with a background in Analytics and Automation. He is currently responsible for Enterprise Analytics, Integrations and Automation.

  Over the last few years, his team worked on the following: 

  • Designing and building a Data Platform; centralized data hub that is easily accessible using reporting and analytical tools
  • Defining a Data Governance strategy for the Enterprise to include implementation of a data catalog to assist Data Stewards and self-service data exploration \ discovery
  • Establishing a community of self-service analytics users who are empowered to build their own dashboards and analytics and support each other through community interaction and education series

  
  His team is now working to establish a hybrid Data Science practice that can be leveraged by any business unit within the company.

  Ann Toy is a Lead Business Translator in the BI and Data Analytics team at Evergy. As part of her role, she continues to facilitate, promote and support cross enterprise analytics and automation, and upskilling the organization including launching and supporting Evergy Analytics University as well as other learning opportunities to Evergy employees. She also facilitates analytic leadership discussions to maintain and execute our enterprise analytics roadmap and analytic strategy. Ann is also a business translator who helps supports our data and data science programs.
