    Hello Enterprise Analytics Community Members,

We had an excellent discussion, part 1 of a 3-part series of “Doing Analytics in the Cloud”, during today’s (1/26/23) Enterprise Analytics Community Conversation. We were joined by @Andrew, @Alexander, and @Jerry as panelists to discuss today’s topic. We got through most of the questions designated for today’s panel discussion, but had a few remaining questions from the members. Please find these questions below.

We will have Andy, Alex, and Jerry reply to this discuss thread to provide their thoughts on the following questions. I also encourage you to reply with your thoughts and opinions, as well as ask any lingering questions from today’s panel discussion.

    1) What is the flow of data from source systems to the end user report (i.e. synapse -> storage account -> sql server -> power bi)?
    2) Our data is housed on AWS. Is a 3rd party data engine necessary between AWS and our end uses (Tableau, R, Python, Alteryx)?
    3) How are you utilizing ‘analytics tools’ in the cloud? , i.e. Enablement + Adoption of the analytics tools in the cloud
    4) For people who have moved to cloud, what were considerations when choosing vendor?

On March 23 and on April 27 during the Enterprise Analytics Community Conversations, we will host part 2 and part 3 of our “Doing Analytics in the Cloud” panel discussion. During these conversations, we will dig deeper into the questions submitted by our Enterprise Analytics Community members that were submitted in our January poll. Some of those topics of discussion include the following:

    • During part 2, some of the topics of discussion will include digital transformation, self-service analytics, data governance, concerns with putting customer PII on cloud, vendors/ranking cloud vendors on their advanced analytics data services, challenge with accessing data stored in the cloud for analytics, advantages/disadvantages/challenges from analytics teams in the business side of the organization, hurdles preventing you from obtaining the most value in cloud analytics, etc., etc. etc.
    • During part 3, some of the topics of discussion will include connecting to SaaS source data, building guidelines, consistency and auditing around BI apps, SDLC Environment Management, managing multi-cloud environments, linking data between cloud systems, integrating apps with third part cloud database, ease of use and integration to the process from a data scientists perspective, data fabric architecture, machine learning with data housed in AWS, etc., etc., etc.

Join us in March and April to dig in a little deeper!

    Cheers to all!

         Leslie
