    Hello Grid Analytics Community Members,

Thank you to everyone who joined us last week for our “Solve My Problem” session! For those unable to attend, we discussed two key problems/challenges brought about during our “Getting to Know You Survey” and kickoff meeting which we’ve listed below:

    • Problem #1 (Facilitated by Amin Tayyebi, Data Science Manager, Exelon): Scenario: We have a small team and we went through a process to identify and prioritize around 70-80 use cases. Problem: We have lots of great data for these grid analytics use cases, but where do we start and what do we do with the data next?
    • Problem #2 (Facilitated by Victoria White, Staff Engineer, Oncor): How are you using predictive analytics for things like outage damage prediction, wildfire mitigation, and storm restoration? Also, what do your dashboards for these things include? And How are you applying analytics and boiling data down to get meaningful, actionable results?

Please catch up with a full recording and copy of our presentation deck HERE.

Next month we will be meeting Wednesday, November 18 at 2:30 – 4:00 pm CT for a special 90-minute session on “How to Apply Analytics to Improve the Outage Experience for Utility Customers.” This session will be part of Utility Analytics Week which again is 100% complimentary for members this year (Using code MEMBER20).

Please find more info on this session below and let me know ASAP if you do not have a calendar placeholder.

    Session Description:

Join the UAI Grid Analytics Community Conversation to hear how multiple utilities applied analytics, machine learning, and data science techniques to improve the outage experience for their utility customers. During this session, you will hear the following stories around grid analytics, which will be followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A. Come prepared to interact with our presenters/panelists and bring your questions about grid analytics.

    • Amin Tayyebi, Data Science Manager at Exelon will share their story about vegetation management using machine learning
    • Brad Steere, Director of Agile Analytics, and Amanda Gomez, Director of Process Optimization, both from Consumers Energy, will share their process transformation story for Service Restoration Damage Assessment
    • Michael Cervantes, Supervisor/Electrical Engineer EIT from CPS Energy will share their story about Merging Smart Meter Power Quality and Event Data with GIS and Customer Information to Proactively Identify Issues from the Circuit Feeder to the Smart Meter

Facilitator: Christine Wisniewski, Executive Director Analytics & Systems – Consumers Energy

    Presenters/Panelists:

      • Amanda Gomez, Director of Process Optimization, Consumers Energy
      • Amin Tayyebi, Data Science Manager, Exelon
