Upcoming April 21 (2021) Grid Analytics Community Conversation – PPL Electric Utilities’ Smart Grid Journey
Hello Grid Analytics Community Members,
I hope all is well! We have a very exciting Community Conversation planned for this month and hope you all can join us. On Wednesday, April 21 at 1:00 PM CT we’ll be joined by Chris Menges, DCC Training and Applications Supervisor at PPL Electric Utilities, who will be leading a discussion on, PPL Electric Utilities’ Smart Grid Journey.
Learn more about Chris and this session below!
Session Description:
Chris will share PPL Electric Utilities’ smart grid journey and what it meant in terms of meeting their key company objectives. During this session, Chris will touch on the humble beginnings of wall maps and limited substation SCADA indications and control to the addition of internet based remote control capabilities for line reclosers and switches, to the current capabilities of fully a integrated system, including the ability to incorporate DER data into the system decision making matrix. He will discuss PPL’s decision to bring all device and sensor data into a central system and present it in a way that allows their users to make effective real-time decisions. Finally, Chris will look at a few real system events that their systems and users were able to efficiently and safely analyze and direct field crews in the restoration of their customers.
