Hello Grid Analytics Community Members,
I hope all is well! We are one week away from our January (2022) Grid Analytics Community Conversation and want to get you excited about the session taking place. On Wednesday, January 19th at 1:00 PM CT, we’ll be joined by Abel Debela, Machine Learning Engineer at Tacoma Power, who will be leading a discussion around, “Power Outage Reports out of Relational Database.” As this discussion will be interactive, we encourage you to come prepared with questions and your insight.
Learn more about this session and our speaker below!
Session Description:
Power outages are one of the utility companies’ nightmares that we would like to minimize by all possible means. When there is an outage, we would like to know the cause of the outage, how many customers are affected, and other blackout features. This session will present how we improved old reports to reflect outages and incidents close to real-time.
Speaker: Abel Debela, Machine Learning Engineer (Tacoma Power)
Abel Debela is a data engineer, and he has been practicing data analytics work in different domains before Tacoma Public Utility. He recently graduated from UW Tacoma with a Business Analytics major. He started his career as a software engineer, and later, he was attracted to data that he served as ETL and report developer to non-profit and corporate industry. In his private life, Abel is married and enjoys playing soccer and mountain biking with his son.

Subject: Upcoming January (2022) Community Conversation
Hello Grid Analytics Community Members,
Happy New Year and I hope all is well! With January just kicking off, I wanted to reach out and get you excited for our January (2022) Grid Analytics Community Conversation. On Wednesday, January 19th at 1:00 PM CT, we will be joined by Abel Debela, Machine Learning Engineer at Tacoma Power, who will be leading a discussion around, Power Outage Reports out of Relational Database. I’ll be providing more information on this session one week prior to our meeting but you can always learn more about each of our upcoming Community Conversations on our Events Page HERE.
Our latest IT update allows me to send meeting placeholders directly to your calendars through my alternate email address kpraet@sg.utilityanalytics.com. I sent out invitations for this community, and each of our other communities, at the end of last month. If you did not receive a calendar invitation let me know so I can help troubleshoot. As this seems to be an issue with some of our members’ firewalls, we recommend whitelisting my new email address kpraet@sg.utilityanalytics.com to ensure any invites don’t go to your spam/junk folders.
Again please let me know if you have any questions/concerns or do not have a calendar placeholder on your calendar.
Thanks and I look forward to connecting with you all this month!
