Features of Higher Logic’s online community software (no additional modules)
Higher Logic’s online community software as a service (Saas) platform that integrates with company and association content management systems to allow for the member data in those systems to become searchable as well as a driver for increased member engagement.
The website is purpose-built and driven to improve engagement, promote information sharing, increase collaboration, solve problems and provide a forum for innovation. Community members can connect with each other or company staff any time of the day or night, from anywhere in the world, on any device.
In addition to providing an online forum that can also be considered a member-benefit (individuals must enter a username and password in order to participate in the conversations), the following features are included with your site:
Automation Rules– These rules can be set depending on a variety of different demographics and rules-based logic. With this feature, community administrators can automate onboarding communications, routine emails and ribbons, etc to increase member engagement. Find more about automation rules here and ribbons/recognition here on HUG.
Communities– In addition to turning the data captured in your AMS into user profiles, any chapters or committees will also be re-created on Higher Logic, and members populated into those communities. You also have the ability to create communities that exist solely on your Higher Logic site that members can join and leave at their discretion. Find more on Communities here on HUG.
Directory– This is the searchable interface through which member Profiles are searched, displayed and linked. From here, association members can connect with friends and colleagues in a private social network. Find more on the Directory here on HUG. Super administrators can download the directory from Higher Logic.
Discussions– This feature provides a centralized place that integrates seamlessly with the existing association website. Here, users can collaborate, ask questions and offer answers – all in a private, secure forum. Members can post threads, email and interface with other members instantaneously. These discussions can also be additional revenue sources, providing a platform for outside advertising and sponsorship opportunities.
Event Calendar– While registration for events must be done outside of HL, the event calendar does allow for inclusion of URLs to link to external webpages supporting registration and more information. The display of events can be limited according to community membership. Find more on Event Calendar here.
Integration with other social media platforms- you can link to your association’s social media accounts on the homepage of your Higher Logic community site. More on that here.
Profiles– This is one of the most valuable features of your Higher Logic site in terms of generating engagement among individual members. Like most social media networks, members are able to complete and customize individual profiles in order to better connect with other members in the community.
Resource Library– This feature is seamlessly integrated with discussions so that members can safely access and share archived versions of files posted in discussions. It empowers members to contribute to and build a Connected Community ™ knowledge base with searchable content that is available to a wide audience. Find more on Resource Libraries here.
Stand Alone Resource Libraries can also be created to provide members with ‘read-only’ resources that can be viewed, downloaded and shared without offering members the option to edit such materials.
Widget Builder– The Widget Builder helps community administrators share their Higher Logic discussion content anywhere and highlight the value of both users and organization. Selected content can be embedded on other websites and found through most browser searches. Build widgets that will act as the connection between your community and the outside world.
Wiki Glossary– The wiki-glossary allows your community to establish common definitions of industry terms and concepts. With “View Glossary Details Requires Login” set to OFF this user-generated content will be indexed by the search engines. This is the recommended setting as it can drive new traffic to your website. This glossary is created by members, for members and provides a helpful industry tool in addition to increasing site SEO for key terms.
Video Streaming– Uploaded videos are automatically converted to MP4 files for video streaming.
Tons of space for documents– Because your Higher Logic community site lives on the amazon cloud, you and your members will have space for sharing documents up to 1GB. With this feature, you can share large documents without having to worry about email size restrictions.
