Cost of Service

  • Posted by Leslie Cook (Adm) on January 5, 2022 at 3:02 am

Hello Natural Gas Analytics Community Members,

Happy New Year!  I reach out today to determine who has knowledge on or experience with “Cost of Service” within Natural Gas. We are preparing to host a panel discussion during the February 16, 2022 UAI Natural Gas Analytics Community Conversation and need to recruit panelist to discuss “Cost of Service“.

During this panel discussion we will discuss things like:

    • What is the cost of service to our customers?
    • How much does it cost to serve customers compared to other utilities, specifically shared services/allocated costs? (cost of service benchmarking)
    • What analytics do utilities use in the collections process?
    • Talk about the process… Utilities use different financial methods that sometimes make it difficult to quantify their costs. Who is tackling this problem and how is your utility doing it? How is your utility approaching it?

We will also open up the discussion with the members in attendance to get a conversation going on the topic. This topic was requested by the members of this group, so we look forward to hosting this conversation.

If you would like to participate as a panelist during this panel discussion or have someone on your team that would be a good fit as a panelist, please reply to this post or contact me, @Leslie, directly at lcook@utilityanalytics.com. Thank you!

I wish you all a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2022!

    Cheers!

         Leslie

Hello Natural Gas Analytics Community Members,

I hope all is well! We are one week away from our January (2022) Natural Gas Analytics Community Conversation and want to get you excited about the session taking place. On Wednesday, January 19th at 11:00 AM CT, we’ll be joined by Rachel Mattix, Sr. Data Performance Analyst NGBU and Brian Wilkerson, Sr. Manager, AI Solutions at Duke Energy, who will be leading a discussion around, Build or Buy? Reducing Damages Using Internal AI”. As this discussion will be interactive, we encourage you to come prepared with questions and your insight.

Learn more about this session and our speakers below!

    Session Description:

Duke Energy designed and implemented an 811-ticket risk ranking model as part of a partnership between the Natural Gas Business Unit and the MADLab. At the time, this service was being provided by a third-party vendor in Ohio and Kentucky, but the business chose to build internally for North Carolina. Rachel and Brian will walk you through the challenges and successes of their citizen data science partnership, from user-centric MVP to implementation and iteration in less than a year.

She has education in Communications, Design Thinking, Lean Six Sigma, and Agile.

Speaker: Brian Wilkerson, Sr. Manager, AI Solutions (DukeEnergy)

Hello Natural Gas Analytics Community Members,

Happy New Year and I hope all is well! With January just kicking off, I wanted to reach out and get you excited for our January (2022) Natural Gas Analytics Community Conversation. On Wednesday, January 19th at 11:00 AM CT, we will be joined by Rachel Mattix, Sr. Data Performance Analyst NGBU and Brian Wilkerson, Sr. Manager, AI Solutions at Duke Energy who will be leading a discussion around, Build or Buy? Reducing Damages Using Internal AI. I’ll be providing more information on this session one week prior to our meeting but you can always learn more about each of our upcoming Community Conversations on our Events Page HERE.

Our latest IT update allows me to send meeting placeholders directly to your calendars through my alternate email address kpraet@sg.utilityanalytics.com. I sent out invitations for this community, and each of our other communities, at the end of last month. If you did not receive a calendar invitation let me know so I can help troubleshoot. As this seems to be an issue with some of our members’ firewalls, we recommend whitelisting my new email address kpraet@sg.utilityanalytics.com to ensure any invites don’t go to your spam/junk folders.

Again please let me know if you have any questions/concerns or do not have a calendar placeholder on your calendar.

Thanks and I look forward to connecting with you all this month!
