Greetings, members of the Natural Gas Analytics Community!

We want to remind you of the incredible value that your participation in our poll can bring to our community. Your input is crucial to driving meaningful and relevant discussions that will benefit everyone in the community. By taking just 10 minutes to complete the survey, you can help us refill the topic bucket and prioritize discussions for our future community conversations.

We truly believe that our community conversations are better when we have input from all members. Your unique perspectives and insights help us identify valuable use cases and topics of discussion that we may not have considered otherwise. So, we urge you to please help us drive value and make our community even stronger.

We are aiming for a sample size of at least 30 participants, which will increase the confidence interval of our data set and allow us to make more robust assertions about our findings. With only six responses so far, we need at least 25 more members to take the survey to reach our goal.

Remember, we only do this poll about every two years, so your participation now is especially important. Don’t miss this opportunity to have your voice heard and help shape the future of our community.

    Take the poll here: https://www.menti.com/altqok4s4c1e

Thank you for your time and valuable input.

    Sincerely,
The Leadership Team, Natural Gas Analytics Community

    Hi all —

I believe this survey is a great way for us to ensure that the sessions each month are meeting your expectations and that you all are hearing about the topics most relevant to your utilities. I encourage everyone to take a few minutes and complete the survey so that we can incorporate your feedback into the monthly content.

    Thanks!

    Kaleb

Hello Natural Gas Analytics Community Members,

I hope all is well! We are one week away from our May (2023) Natural Gas Analytics Community Conversation and want to get you excited about the session taking place. On Wednesday, May 17 at 11:00 AM CT, we’ll be joined by Mark Knox, Former Director of Resource Management Forecasting at Southern Company Gas and Jesse Woods, VP of Data Science at E Source who will be leading a discussion around, “Analytics for Leak Detection forecasting and workforce optimization in Natural Gas.”

Learn more about this session and our speakers below!

    Session Description:

Leaks pose a critical challenge for sustainability and safety in natural gas. Applying data science to this problem more accurately predicts the types of leaks and the quantity forecasters can expect within a given service territory.
The results of this leak forecasting not only allow for better prediction (an improvement in prediction error rate from 20% to as low as 5%), but also better work/resource allocation – allowing utilities to more accurately forecast their resourcing needs within a service territory based on the expectation of upcoming leaks. Thus, reducing error rates, supporting call center optimization to handle expected incoming calls from leaks, and work resource planning. The net result: a reactive approach replaced with a predictive and prescriptive approach.
Learn more about how E Source applied this solution and the methodologies used for leak forecasting detection.

Speaker: Mark Knox, Former Director of Resource Management Forecasting (Southern Company Gas)
