Group Description
Electric, natural gas and water utilities face inherent safety risks that have the potential to impact employee, customer, contractor, and public safety. Join the Safety Analytics Community to hear how utilities are using descriptive, predictive and cognitive analytics solutions to reduce these risks. A supportive and knowledgeable group of industry peers will address data sources and data capture needs and methods, examine the safety observation process, and share information about the platforms, applications, and tools utilized. You will learn about Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) precursors and “good catches” discovered by other utilities, enabling you to improve safety at your company. Community members will also look at organizational design considerations as well as cultural and human performance factors, from fatigue management to skillset needs and training. You will learn about the benefits of a 360-degree view of the employee and the job and how to get there. Safety is of vital importance to every aspect of the utility value chain. This community provides a window into safety analytics best practices and how other utilities have overcome common challenges – don’t miss out!

[External] Safety Analytics Community : Recording for August 2021 Community Conversation + Next Month’s Details + Announcements
Posted by Tony Klutz on October 6, 2021 at 1:46 amHello Kevin
There have been a number of meetings devoted to language analytics. The August 2021 and the March 2020 meeting both discussed this topic. Were other meeting devoted to this topic? I am interested in using language analytics to review free form test of injury descriptions to understand trends that may not be evident.
Is there any further information on previous meetings you can provide concerning this topic?
Regards
Tony

Hey Tony,
Thanks for reaching out on this and I’m glad to hear language analytics is an area of interest! UAI has several resources surrounding language analytics/NLP and I’ve listed a few resources below to get you started:
- NLP and It’s Application in the Utility Industry – https://connect.utilityanalytics.com/viewdocument/natural-language-processing-and-its
- Summarizing Text with AI | NLP Whitepaper – https://connect.utilityanalytics.com/viewdocument/summarizing-text-with-artificial-in?CommunityKey=b805fd0c-70a5-440c-b522-3dc71b9f070e&tab=librarydocuments
- APS Text Analytics Use Case – https://connect.utilityanalytics.com/blogs/blogviewer?BlogKey=d6ed6518-2ee5-42cb-a5e8-e160627d0426
- Natural Language Processing Use Cases at SoCalGas: Named Entity Extraction, Automatic Redaction and Text Classification for General Counsel and Damage Prevention Documents – https://connect.utilityanalytics.com/viewdocument/july-20-2021-community-conversatio?CommunityKey=68485d2d-d4d9-408f-bc7b-69b2074650c3&tab=librarydocuments
Please note that two of the resources above are part of our Data Science Community and Mosaic Data Sceince Premium Member Community. Given the topics being discussed, I couldn’t recomend these two groups anymore and would love to get you included if interested (to ensure you stay up to date on discussion threads and content related to this topic). Please also feel free to use our Search Tool as well where we have even more content related to this topic.
Thanks again and please reach out if I can help pull any additional resources!

Subject: Upcoming October (2021) Community ConversationHello Safety Analytics Community Members,
Happy Friday and I hope all is well! With October just kicking off, I wanted to reach out and get you excited for our October (2021) Safety Analytics Community Conversation. Though still finalizing a few things with this session, our community will be meeting Tuesday, October 26th at 2:00 PM CT and I’ll be providing more information one week prior.
Our latest IT update allows me to send meeting placeholders directly to your calendars through my alternate email address kpraet@sg.utilityanalytics.com. I sent out invitations for this community, and each of our other communities, earlier this week. If you did not receive a calendar invitation let me know so I can help troubleshoot. As this seems to be an issue with some of our members’ firewalls, we recommend whitelisting my new email address kpraet@sg.utilityanalytics.com to ensure any invites don’t go to your spam/junk folders.
Again please let me know if you have any questions/concerns or do not have a calendar placeholder on your calendar.
Thanks and I look forward to connecting with you all this month!
