    Hello Safety Analytics Community Members,

    I hope all is well! With May just kicking off, I wanted to reach out and get you excited for our May (2023) Safety Analytics Community Conversation. On Tuesday, May 23 at 2:00 PM CT we’ll be joined by the following speakers from SoCal Gas who will be leading a discussion around, Musculoskeletal Analytics: Preventing the Pains of Sprains and Strains.”

    Hello Safety Analytics Community Members,

    I hope all is well! We are one week away from our May (2023) Safety Analytics Community Conversation and want to get you excited about the session taking place. On Tuesday, May 23 at 2:00 PM CT, we’ll be joined by Miriam Ezmirlian, Manager | Technology & Analytics – Safety Management Systems, Tawny Young, SMS Technology & Analytics Team Lead, Safety Management Systems, and Peter Gin, Ergonomist at SoCal Gas who will be leading a discussion around, “Musculoskeletal Analytics: Preventing the Pains of Sprains and Strains.” As this discussion will be interactive, I encourage you to come prepared with questions and your insight.

    Session Description:

    During this session, SoCalGas will share a use case on how they are preventing and mitigating musculoskeletal injuries. The purpose of this use case is to better understand what the trends are in ergonomic data that could help identify, analyze and control workplace risk factors that reduce musculoskeletal injuries, so they can reduce costs and risks of musculoskeletal disorders and increase employee productivity and morale.
    The SoCalGas Safety Management Systems department champions the “Safety First” culture in first identifying one of the most common injuries through analytics and responding accordingly by promoting various safety programs and resources that help prevent and mitigate musculoskeletal injuries.

    Speaker: Miriam Ezmirlian, Manager | Technology & Analytics – Safety Management Systems (SoCal Gas)

    Miriam Ezmirlian is the SMS Technology & Analytics Manager at SoCalGas. Miriam has been with SoCalGas for over 14-years and has held various roles in the areas of customer service, project management and data analytics. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in management from University of Redlands, California and is perusing a masters in legal studies at American Public University, California.

    Speaker: Tawny Young, SMS Technology & Analytics Team Lead, Safety Management Systems (SoCal Gas)


    Tawny Young is currently the SMS Technology & Analytics Team Lead at SoCalGas. Tawny has been with SoCalGas for over 5-years as a business system analyst. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology from the University of Los Angeles, California and certification in Project Management from the Caltech Institute of Technology, California. 

    Speaker: Peter Gin, Ergonomist (SoCal Gas)


    Peter Gin is the company Ergonomist for SoCalGas for over 11 years and has been in this role since he hired on.  He has the following degrees – all from California State University, Los Angeles: bachelor’s degree in health and safety studies, master’s degree in health and safety studies and a master’s degree in education. Peter’s role is to oversee the ergonomic programs for office-based employees and field employees.
