UAI honors the best in the utility analytics profession, recognizing the individuals, teams, and organizations that have achieved and maintained excellence through innovation.

    Thanks again for the recognition. I must admit I was a bit distracted yesterday during the award presentations. We had a critical event in the Niagara River between our plant in take structures and the Falls. As you may have heard, a car ended up in the river near the edge of the falls. There was a dramatic attempt by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew to rescue the driver. NYPA (and OPG) went into maximum water diversion to the Niagara Power Project to reduce the flow and water level of the river to aid what unfortunately ended up being a recovery. 

    The analytics involvement here is that the event will create an outlier on our study of ice formation, and river flow, diversion, weather etc….
