November (2022) Member Spotlight: Avi Dutt-Mazumder (Consumers Energy)
@Avi is an active UAI member and provides outstanding influence and contributions to the UAI community through any of our multiple channels, including, but not limited to engagement on UAI Connect, volunteering with UAI, involvement and/or leadership in monthly Community Conversations, and/or speaking at UAI events, plus so much. As thanks, we are featuring him in the UAI Member Spotlight. Avi is the data science supervisor supporting cross-functional teams across Enterprise with advanced analytics driven data products. He is influential to the Cx team for the Enterprise’s Clean Energy initiatives ranging from Demand Side Management and Renewable products. Avi and the Consumers Energy team also won our Community Engagement Team Award this year and want to send an extra congratulations their way!
Kevin: How did you get into the utility analytics industry?
Avi: I have 8 years’ experience in data science. My primary motivation is to contribute to the renaissance that the current Utility industry is undergoing with transformative data driven models.
Kevin: What project have you enjoyed working on most in your career?
Avi: I enjoy building out customer centric data products for the Enterprise’s Clean Energy projects such as next best offer, product lifecycle management and so on.
Kevin: What has been your biggest professional challenge and how did you work through it?
Avi: As a data science supervisor I am blessed to work with a lot of talented contributors. One of the challenges is to build efficiency in our processes and deliver optimal deliverables. I dedicate my time researching how we can use our data products and make maximum impact within our Enterprise.
Kevin: If you could go back in time and give yourself one piece of advice before entering the utility analytics industry, what would it be?
Avi: Stay hungry, Stay Curious, and more importantly you cannot predict the unpredictable, but you can prepare for it.
Kevin: What would you like to talk to fellow colleagues and members about in UAI Connect? Or, what issues or topics would you like to see more discussions on in UAI Connect?
Avi: I take pride in sharing my past experiences with my colleagues. I am happy to share some of my perspective on the direction of future Utility analytics capability. I am also an avid learner and would like to learn from my respected peers at UAI Connect.
