    Hello Enterprise Analytics Community Members,

I hope all is well! We are one week away from our July (2022) Enterprise Analytics Community Conversation and want to get you excited about the session taking place. On Thursday, July 28 at 1:00 PM CT, we’ll be joined by @Andy, Vice President, Business Data & Insight at Entergy and @Yong, Manager of Performance Center at DTE Energy who will be leading a discussion around, “Analytic Fails.” As this discussion will be interactive, we encourage you to come prepared with questions and your insight.

Learn more about this session and our speakers below!

    Session Description:

Want to Really Help Others? Talk About Your Failures, Not Your Successes. Even though most people don’t realize it, the latest research shows that mistakes, errors, and disastrous decisions are more useful for helping people perform better. Experience is often the best teacher: Lessons learned are often the best lessons; the more painful the lesson, the better the learning. But you can learn some of those lessons from other people–and just as importantly, help them learn a few lessons from your mistakes. That’s easier said than done, though, especially since science shows we’re naturally reluctant to share our failures with other people.” We would like to thank our roundtable participants for sharing their stories of “analytics fails” and we hope you learn from their lessons learned. We also encourage you to get involved in this roundtable discussion by sharing your “fails” and lessons learned.

Speaker: Andy Quick, Vice President, Business Data & Insight (Entergy)

Andy Quick has been with Entergy for 26 years and is currently Vice President, Business Data & Insights, an enterprise function focused on leveraging advanced analytics to help Entergy be the premier utility. Andy has led many departments including robotic process automation, business transformation, enterprise architecture, telecommunications, data center operations, outsourcing relationship management, and two business unit CIO organizations.

Prior to joining Entergy, Andy worked for Andersen Consulting (Accenture) where he was an IT consultant for global, multi-industry companies.
Andy has served as an adjunct instructor at Tulane University and University of New Orleans where he taught robotic process automation courses. Andy also volunteers as an executive mentor to business school students at Loyola University.

Andy holds a B.S. in computer science from Louisiana State University and an MBA from Tulane University. Andy is a certified Automation Anywhere RPA trainer and the winner of the inaugural Automation Anywhere Bot Games competition in 2018.

Hello Asset Health Analytics Community Members,

I hope all is well! We are one week away from our July (2022) Asset Health Analytics Community Conversation and want to get you excited about the session taking place. On Wednesday, July 27th at 2:00 PM CT, we’ll be joined by @Chris, VP of Asset Planning & Management at Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) who will be leading a discussion around, WAPA’s 2021 Asset Almanac: Data Driving Decisions.”  As this discussion will be interactive, we encourage you to come prepared with questions and your insight.

Learn more about this session and our speaker below!

    Session Description:

WAPA’s Asset Management Program has been maturing since it’s inception in 2015. Part of the maturing process was the development of an annual publication called the Asset Almanac. The purpose of the document is to communicate to a broad, high-level audience the importance of a formal asset management program, what type of asset data is available, and how that data can be used to inform business decisions. Join us for an open dialogue on the development of WAPA’s Asset Management program, the bumpy road of development, and lessons learned along the way.

Speaker: Chris Lyles, VP of Asset Planning & Management (WAPA)

Chris is married to one really exceptional wife and has three really great kids.  He lives in Lakewood, CO which is also the home of WAPA Headquarters.  He’s been with WAPA since 2008 and joined Asset Management in 2018.  Asset Management is the perfect fit for Chris as it combines the business side of the utility industry with the technical aspects of transmission assets.  Best of both worlds!

Subject: Question on TeraData Vantage Migration – From on Premise to Cloud (Re-Posting)

    Hello Data Science Community Members,

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I’m currently working with a member from Ameren who posted a question to our Ask Your Network Community last week around their TeraData Vantage Migration. Because we’ve yet to see any responses, I’m reposting to this group in case anyone might be able to help/provide insight. See below:

“We are researching a project for Ameren to perform a lift and shift project to move from on premise TeraData EDW to the TeraData Vantage cloud platform.  Ameren is highly invested in the Informatica PowerCenter tool to do almost all of our ETL.  Informatica does not officially support the link to TeraData Vantage, without some agreement that you will migrate to the Informatica cloud tool.  We don’t have plans to migrate to Informatica cloud.  I would like to know if other business’ have come across this issue or have done TeraData Vantage migrations from on premise to cloud.”

    Thanks for your help!

Subject: Reminder — UAI Executive Advisory Council Meeting – June 29, 2022

    Hello UAI EAC Members,

We look forward to our quarterly UAI Executive Advisory Council meeting next week, taking place on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. My teammate, @Kevin, will be sending you an updated calendar invite with your Teams meeting link to get into the meeting. He will also reply to this message here with the link.

During this EAC meeting, we will discuss the following:

    • UAI calls to action
    • An overview of the things discussed/identified during the May 10, 2022 EAC meeting that took place at UA Summit
      • The EAC members at our meeting during UA Summit worked collaboratively and provided a wealth of information to the topics at hand:
        • Analytics in IT vs. Analytics in the Business
        • Hiring and Retention
        • Cloud Migration/Adoption
        • Data Governance/Data Quality
        • The Intersection of Digital Experience and Data Analytics
        • ESG (Environment Societal Governance)
      • There has been a lot to consume and combine in regards to the amazing discussions that took place during this meeting, so we want to make sure to take time during our June EAC meeting to do a review of this information, especially for those that missed the meeting at UA Summit.
      • The team here at UAI is still reviewing and compiling actions to take in regards to this information, so we think it is important to give an overview of the EAC’s findings and collect any additional thoughts on these topics. Due to this focus, we will not discuss any new topics during this June EAC meeting.
      • Please find attached to this message the notes taken during this meeting
    • Informal, Open Discussion – any topics you want to discuss with each other

Thank you for your commitment to the UAI EAC. We are honored to have you as a member and look forward to our continued work together.

If you have any questions prior to this meeting, please reach out.

    Sincerely,
    @Leslie
