I hope all is well! We are one week away from our June (2022) Enterprise Analytics Community Conversation and want to get you excited about the session taking place. On Thursday, June 23rd at 1:00 PM CT, we’ll be joined by @Julie, MABR, CBRM, Senior Manager Inventory Management, Supply Chain and @Jeremiah, Senior Product Manager, Enterprise Analytics, Technology & Innovation Organization at Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) who will be leading a discussion around,“How TVA is Leveraging Supply Chain Data, Advanced Analytics, and Cloud Computing to Create a “Google” to “Amazon” Environment for Supply Chain Inventory.” As this discussion will be interactive, we encourage you to come prepared with questions and your insight.
Learn more about this session and our speakers below!
Session Description:
TVA is leveraging advanced analytics to close the gap between the current $700M+ of inventory and the work management and operational performance of electricity generation assets. A highlight of this process is a new search tool called “MICA” (Materials Intelligent Catalog Assistant) that produces “Google” level search results and an “Amazon” like application for finding inventory and creating work orders. This solution is expected to save TVA millions of dollars. MICA had saved TVA $4.5M already while it was in beta testing.
MICA helps users find inventory and materials they need to better plan projects. MICA’s development is part of TVA’s focus on Intelligent Inventory – a series of efforts to align assets with inventory using Maximo and advanced analytics.
Session attendees will learn ways TVA is applying modern technologies to traditional processes to transform work and asset performance.
Speaker: Jeremiah Jansen, Senior Product Manager, Enterprise Analytics, Technology & Innovation Organization (TVA)
Jeremiah Jansen works at TVA as Senior Product Manager in Enterprise Analytics which is part of TVA’s Technology & Innovation Organization. As part of the Enterprise Analytics team, he has worked on analytics use cases for business units across the enterprise that turn data into insights using data science techniques and applications. His projects cover a wide range of data analytics, machine learning, and data science applications that include natural language processing and text search, advanced statistics and predictive analytics for TVA equipment, supply chain analytics, and image recognition with helicopter and drone data. He has a MS in Computer Science at John Hopkins University.
Speaker: Julie Soutuyo, MABR, CBRM, Senior Manager Inventory Management, Supply Chain (TVA)
Julie Soutuyo joined the Tennessee Valley Authority in 2011. She has held senior-level positions in the Cyber Security, Information Technology, TVA Police and Emergency Management, and Supply Chain organizations. Julie has led numerous teams to develop solutions for a wide variety of technology-enabled, enterprise-wide challenges. She is a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, a former GS-14 at the U.S. Department of Transportation and has over a decade of experience as a management consultant in support of Defense, Space, and Energy clients. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Excelsior College and holds advanced certifications in risk and business resilience.

Subject: Introduce YourselfHi Everyone!
My name is Brandy Sawyer. I work for Benton Public Utility District (PUD). I’ve been with the company only 3 months, and am brand new to Utilities. I have 17 years in analytics in the grocery industry, so analytics as a whole is not new to me. I’m just getting up to speed on electricity metrics and wanted to connect with others in the same arena.
My PUD is heavily into Tableau Dashboarding, with a solid group of power users who are really invested in analytics and growing our data knowledge. I am really excited to dig in and start participating in groups to get familiar with everyone!
In my free time I like to read books, watch movies, and crochet!
Thanks!

Subject: Introduce YourselfHello UAI Members,
I’m excited to try something new on UAI’s Member-Only Community. I want to not only make this forum a place for work and professional connections to take place on a daily basis, a place to ask each other questions, find answers and exchange knowledge and share information, I want to make it a fun environment to help us all de-stress, get to know each other a little better, and build bonds and friendships of a lifetime.
One of the coolest things about the UAI community is seeing members make connections with one another-it’s incredible to watch personal and professional relationship and friendships begin, grow, evolve, and last. The more relationships that are built between us and the more we get to know each other, the more valuable our work exchanges will become. We open up, we share more, we learn more and we all become so much better together!
Our community gets bigger every day. Many of you already know one another, while others are brand-new faces. I feel like it’s time that we (both new members and established ones) take a little time to introduce ourselves.
- Share your name
- Where you’re from
- How long you’ve worked in utility analytics
- I also encourage you to share non-invasive personal tidbits about yourself, i.e. what you like to do for fun, your hobbies, your pet peeves, or even your favorite memes, of course keeping it in good taste. Share things that will help us all get to know you better
I think it is important to have a little fun while we work and enjoy each other’s company. Please, use the UAI Member-Only Community as a place to work hard and play hard, enjoy, laugh, and have some fun.
I’ll kick us off, and please know you can include as much or little detail in your introduction. I’m wordy, so I went all out:
I’m Leslie, UAI’s membership & digital engagement manager. I’ve been with UAI for almost five months and I’m passionate about connecting members who share similar interests and challenges, and providing them with benefits, experiences, and tools they need to solve their problems and improve their organizations. I enthusiastically joined UAI to help improve and evolve the UAI membership value, as well as manage UAI’s collection of Communities. I am a strategic program director, dynamic business leader, and expert facilitator with over 20 years of experience. To learn even more about my professional work or to connect with me, visit my profile on UAI’s member-only site or LinkedIn. Please reach out to me directly at any time if you have questions or need anything from UAI. I can be reached at lcook@endeavorb2b.com or 646-693-5965.
I’m a Texas girl at heart, born and raised in a small town in north Texas, and then I headed out west to graduate from Texas Tech University (Go Red Raiders!). After school I moved to Colorado and I’ve lived all along the front range for the last 22 years, settling in Denver for the last six years, and I still have a Texas accent (You can take the girl out of Texas, but you can’t take the Texas accent out of the girl!). I’ve been married to my best friend from high school for 17 years, and we have two amazingly intelligent miniature Australian Shepherds, Indio and Charley, who keep us busy.
When I’m not working, I can be found traveling the world. We have been to 11 countries so far and we hope to continue to expand our adventures. I also like to leverage my high attention to detail and project management skills when dabbling in home remodeling and interior design. I come up with crazy design schemes and my patient husband implements my ideas, doing all the skilled and hard labor work. We are now close to the end of a complete remodel of our 1952 house. I cannot wait to be done with this project that has taken us about three years to complete…I can almost see the light!
I am truly excited to get to know ALL UAI’s members, so please reply to this discussion post to introduce yourself. Give a little of yourself and you will be surprised at how much you get in return through your valuable, purpose-built relationships via UAI.
Like I said, I have only been with UAI for about five months, but I’m already having so much fun and learning a lot from all of you! We have a lot of positive updates coming soon and we are evolving, with your input, to better meet your needs and goals, and I can’t wait to share these things with you. You must stay tuned into UAI’s Member-Only Community to learn more within the next few months. We will also be announcing some new things and some updates during the unique and exciting event we have coming in June 2020, UA Summit Reimagined!
Introduce yourself, learn more about others, and connect through UAI!
Stay safe and healthy,
Leslie

Subject: UAI Community Engagement Award – Become This Year’s Most Engaged Utility Company!Hello UAI Members,
Last week I had sent out a message promoting our Community Engagement Award – Most Engaged Professional, part of this year’s UAI Excellence Awards. Divided into two parts (MOST ENGAGED PROFESSIONAL & MOST ENGAGED UTILITY COMPANY) I want to speak more on THE MOST ENGAGED UTILITY COMPANY today and get your whole team excited about this amazing opportunity.
THE MOST ENGAGED UTILITY COMPANY represents a utility member company who has had exceptional engagement throughout UAI, including but not limited to, UAI Connect activity, community involvement, volunteerism, event involvement, etc. This year more than ever, our overall engagement has skyrocketed which is a huge testament to the amazing members we work with on a daily basis. To every member utility team, we thank you for your involvement and wish you the best of luck in this year’s selection!
Last year we had the privilege of selecting Sempra Utilities for this award who continue to stay engaged through UAI’s many channels. Hear from @David, Director of Performance Management and Org. Structure, @Tom, Manager of Data & Analytics and Services, and @Karen, Product Owner Team Lead, during their 2021 Acceptance Speech and learn even more about this award below.
THE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AWARD – MOST ENGAGED UTILITY COMPANY
UAI will select our winner for this award category from a combination of engagement activity, including engagement score on UAI Connect (How often are you posting or replying on Ask Your Network or other online communities? How often are you sharing resources? Are you viewing and downloading research? Have you completed your profile? Are you inviting other members to connect and sending direct messages via UAI Connect direct messaging?… all of these activities count toward your overall engagement score on UAI Connect), UAI Community Conversation involvement (Are you attending Community Conversations regularly? Are you volunteering as a Community leader or sponsor?), and other volunteerism with UAI… there are so many opportunities to get involved to become a more engaged UAI member.
Reach out to me directly at kpraet@utilityanalytics.com if you want to get more involved or have questions about volunteering with UAI.Volunteering allows you to connect to your community and make it a better place. And volunteering is a two-way street: It can benefit you and your utility as much as the cause you choose to help. Dedicating your time as a volunteer helps you make new connections, expands your network, and boosts your social skills. In other words…The more you give, the more you get in return!

Subject: UAI Excellence Awards – Are you Celebrating the Talent on your Team?Hello UAI Members,
Are you celebrating the talent on your team and/or your entire team?
A violinist played for 45 minutes in a New York subway. A handful of people stopped, a couple clapped, and the violinist managed to raise about $30 in tips. 💵
No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. In that subway, Joshua played one of the most intricate pieces ever written with a violin worth 3.5 million dollars. 🎻
Two days before he played in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston and the seats averaged about $1000.
The experiment proved that the extraordinary in an ordinary environment does not shine and is so often overlooked and undervalued. 👀
There are brilliantly talented people everywhere who aren’t receiving the recognition and reward they deserve. But once they arm themselves with value and confidence and remove themselves from an environment that isn’t serving them, they thrive and grow.
Are you celebrating, recognizing, and rewarding the wicked smart, innovative people on your team?
RUN, don’t walk, to nominated them for a UAI 2022 Excellence Award today! Nominate at https://lnkd.in/eBebzqk. The deadline to submit a UAI Excellence Award nomination is June 30, 2022. 🏃♂️🏃🏃♀️

Subject: Introduce YourselfHello UAI members,
My name is Shraddha Sharma. I work for Entergy Services from past 2.5 years as data scientist in New Orleans. I got this opportunity to get familiar with Utility Analytics and latest advancements that utility companies are working on. I enjoy my work and am interested in meeting and learning from people who work on similar business problems.
I have done my masters in business analytics and project management from University of Connecticut and Bachelors in Information Technology. Although this is my first Utility company experience, my dad worked in a utility company all his life(back in India, where I am from) and I grew up hearing about, and seeing power generation very closely.
In my free time I like painting, reading and working out. I am excited to be part of UAI team and looking forward to meeting someday in person!

Stay safe and healthy,
Leslie
