Hello UAI Members,
Happy start of August! I hope everyone is enjoying the final month of summer and dodging the extreme heat. During today’s #WisdomWednesday thread, I wanted to share a quote around #persistence and the important lessons we can all learn through sticking with something.
This quote comes from Condoleezza Rice. I hope you enjoy and take something from her message!
“I’m very glad my mother didn’t let me quit piano lessons at age 10. She said I wasn’t old enough or good enough to make that decision, and she was right. I remember at the time I was shocked. I did not like that my mother said those things to me. But when I got a chance to play with Yo-Yo Ma or more recently with Aretha Franklin, I thought, I’m really glad she said what she did.”

Subject: Wisdom Wednesday – Inspiration to Get You Through the WeekHello UAI Members,
I hope all is well and that everyone is enjoying the end of July! I know several folks are out of office on a much deserved summer vacation but for those of you still in office I wanted to share a short poem for this week’s #WisdomWednesday. The poem below comes from Catherine Pulsifer who has become a recent favorite for me. If you have a wisdom themed poem I’d love to hear from you below as well!
Catherine Pulsifer, © 2012
Easy is as easy does,
Who hasn’t heard that phrase?
But what really does that mean,
If you don’t do, easy never finds the way?
There are so many different ways,
That messages are tangled in.
Find a quote or poem you like,
Then make sense of what is says.
Sometimes you may not understand,
But then there will be times you do.
And those times are when we truly benefit,
And bring the message into view.
Wisdom finds us in many ways,
It’s up to us to allow it to help.
Many people benefit from these thoughts,
And it’s a way to allow yourself to self-help.——————————

Subject: Wisdom Wednesday – Inspiration to Get You Through the WeekHello UAI Members,
It’s hump day which means we wanted to start another fun #WisdomWednesday thread! Often times with a long weekend coming up, I find myself getting a little more stressed than usual trying to accomplish and get everything done but have found the following quote useful in keeping me relaxed and grounded. There’s no reason why we can’t be relaxed and still accomplish everything on our lists, in fact staying relaxed will only benefit us in the long-run!
“Let go the idea that gentle, relaxed people can’t be superachievers”

Subject: EV Adoption – Texas DMV DataHi Kevin, in Texas obtaining EV registration data is very easy. You don’t have to go directly through TX DMV, as all data is gathered by Dallas Clean Cities Coalition and its publicly available and free. To download EV registration data, you can visit: http://www.dfwcleancities.org Scroll down and click the “Electric Vehicles in North Texas” square link. Scroll down and click “Downloadable Registration EV Data”.

I have no direct experience in obtaining this type of data. Since this is a government agency, a freedom of information (FOI) request may be necessary.

I am working with a utility team out of Texas who are beginning their journey into Electric Vehicle Adoption. One question they wanted to pose to the community was if anyone had advice for aquiring Texas DMV Data. Does anyone (Texas or Non-Texas) have any advice for aquiring DMV data from the state?
I look forward to your feedback!

Session Description:
FERC Order 2222 has transformed the energy landscape by mandating regional grid operators to integrate distributed energy resources (DERs) into their wholesale markets. However, implementing Order 2222 presents challenges and changes in responsibilities for RTOs/ISOs, transmission utilities, and distribution utilities. These challenges encompass market readiness, reliability certifications, communication, data sharing, ensuring a clear division of roles between distribution and transmission market operators, and managing scheduled outages, among other important considerations. Key considerations involve transparency, accountability, and the role of analytics in supporting DER aggregation and distribution networks to enhance market efficiency. Join Dr. Joe Nyangon from SAS as he leads a discussion on the implementation and impacts of FERC Order 2222 on asset health specifically for distribution utilities.
Speaker: Dr. Joe Nyangon, Senior Power and Utilities Consultant (SAS)
Dr. Joe Nyangon is a Senior Power and Utilities Consultant at SAS, leveraging his extensive expertise to assist energy and utility clients in navigating electrification, grid modernization, decarbonization, and digital transformation challenges. I hope everyone had an amazing 4th of July weekend! To continue our #WisdomWednesday theme, I wanted to share another quote with you all which also doubles down as a reminder to stay positive even when things aren’t going your way. Have a quote or piece of wisdom you would like to share? I’d love to hear from you below!

UAI Members – If you have a quote or piece of wisdom you would like to share, let us know in the comments section below!
